CHECC Board Members

By admin · Comments (0)

The CHECC board positions defined below reflect how the current board has operated for the last several years.  The elected board may make changes to these positions and responsibilities, but this is the starting point.  Decisions will be made by majority vote.  All Board Members must honor and agree with the CHECC Statement of Faith.  Board meetings usually occur monthly, however, on call meetings can be expected.

Chairman, Tom and Melissa Moody

This person is the leader of CHECC who provides vision and direction for the group, coordinates and runs parent and board meetings, and serves as the liaison to the community.  Central to the Chairman position is the role of overseeing the orchestration of CHECC activities and policies to ensure that they serve the CHECC Membership.  Incumbent to the Chairman position is the role of facilitating Board leadership through sound organizational skills and conflict resolution.

Teaching:  The Chairman of CHECC is responsible for the teaching aspect of CHECC’s mission statement.  The CHECC Chairman sets the agenda for parent meetings and board meetings.  He doesn’t necessarily need to conduct all of the teaching, but should coordinate speakers and topics and ensure that the training supports the overall goals of CHECC.  Implicit in this task is the need to provide oversight of the substantive content of the training.  The Charman serves as a primary point of contact to new homeschoolers and must be prepared to provide education/parenting advice and guidance on CHECC policies and procedures, home schooling references, and available mentors.

Liaison:  As the liaison to the community, the CHECC Chairman is the public relations person for CHECC; the most visible person who embodies what CHECC is to the community and the point for organizations to share events and opportunities available to home schoolers.  The liaison should have good communications skills for working with churches, newspaper, school district and other community groups.
